Waste-hauler contract updates bring residents new discounts

After an open bidding process and extensive review, Macomb Township awarded GFL a five-year waste hauler contract beginning October 1, 2023. With the contract came discounts for Seniors, Veterans, electronic payments and annual one-time payments. On top of the discount, homeowners are now entitled to a free waste cart and have the ability to pause service for up to three months without being charged. Progress continues at Pitchford Park

The brand-new Pitchford Park is moving closer and closer to completion. You can see fencing for new sports courts, paved walkways and pavilions all shaping up. Pitchford Park will feature a beautiful walking path, pickleball and tennis courts, a playground and a dog park! We can’t wait for residents to enjoy the finished product.

Garfield Road extension between 22 Mile and 23 Mile

First phase of Garfield Road extension complete

Garfield Road is finally open between 22 Mile and 23 Mile! This project was years in the making between Macomb Township and the Macomb County Department of Roads. We’re thrilled for our residents to have access to another road and help alleviate traffic in the area. Phase II of the Garfield Extension is expected to begin in 2024, which will connect Garfield all the way from 23 Mile to 25 Mile.

MTFD will be hosting an open house on Sunday, October 8 at fire station 3!
Our parks and recreation department is hosting a Turkey Hop on November 4!
This year's annual tree lighting ceremony will take place on Friday, December 1 at 5 PM
MTFD's Joe Warne starts his 140 mile walk from Macomb Township to Cascade Township.

Township firefighters participate in 140-mile walk 

Macomb Township firefighter Joe Warne held his fifth annual walk from Macomb Township Fire Station 2 to the Cascade Township Fire Station this September. Joe walks to raise funds for firefighters in Michigan who are battling cancer. Several of MTFD’s firefighters joined the walk to support Joe and the firefighters in need. Joe’s kindness and selflessness exemplify exactly what it means to serve your community.

Macomb Township participates in Patriot Day walk

In remembrance of the thousands that lost their lives during the attacks on 9/11, the Macomb Township Fire Department, Clerk Pozzi and Supervisor Viviano attended the Patriot Walk at St. Peter Lutheran School. Township staff were honored to participate in the ceremony remembering the citizens, police officers and firefighters who were lost in the tragedy.

Blood Drive hosted at Rec Center helps alleviate national blood shortage

Macomb Township residents and employees came together on Wednesday, September 20, for a great cause! The Township hosted a blood drive with the American Red Cross at the Rec Center. Community members and Township staff donated blood or plasma to aid in the ongoing National Blood Shortage. We’re proud of our community for helping others in need!
